What is important to know about the websites which mediate jobs?

  • Most sites have a dual structure: one for employers and one for people who are looking for a job. The first step is to get a username and a password which you can use to access the users area. For registration, you must give a valid e-mail address and some personal information (eg, date of birth, city, occupation, industry). It is important to give an existing email address for the system to send you an e-mail confirmation, where you can activate your account. Creating an account is usually free of charge.
  • If you want to consult the online offerings, you are not required to create an account. However, some sites allow you to access all available offers only after registration.
  • If you already have an account, you can use the resume management service. When completing the online CV you need to give more general personal data (phone number, address), details on work experience (business, job, area, period of employment, responsibilities, accomplishments, references), details on studies, job skills and information, expectations for this and other information. Beware of the required fields! In some cases you can add a photo to your resume.
  • Some sites offer the possibility to send and receive messages within the created account or sign up for job alerts.
  • The way to search for jobs can be organized by multiple criteria: keywords, city, area or career level and form of employment (full time, part time, projects and so on).
